Tarot or oracle? Choosing a card perspective
Two of PRSHN's twelve perspectives work with cards: the Tarot Spread and the Oracle Card draw. Both answer your question through a card you draw yourself — but they suit different moods and different questions.
The tarot spread: the full tradition
PRSHN's tarot uses the complete 78-card Rider–Waite deck — 22 Major Arcana, the big life themes, and 56 Minor Arcana, the day-to-day currents. When you choose Tarot, you fan the whole deck out in a semi-circle and pick your card yourself. That act of choosing is part of the tradition: the card you are drawn to is the one meant to speak.
Tarot suits questions with real weight — a decision, a turning point, a situation with history. The deck's imagery is rich and sometimes blunt; it will show difficulty as readily as promise, which is exactly what makes its guidance useful.
The oracle draw: a gentler voice
Oracle cards work more loosely. Instead of a fixed deck with established meanings, an oracle draw offers a single clear message — an affirmation, a direction, a word to carry with you. It suits moments when you don't want a full analysis, just a steadying nudge: "What should I keep in mind today?" or "What do I need to hear right now?"
A simple rule of thumb
- Choose Tarot when the question is specific and you want the full picture, including the uncomfortable parts.
- Choose Oracle when you want encouragement, a theme for the day, or a softer first step into card reading.
- Either way, draw once and sit with the answer before asking again — the first draw is the honest one.
Both perspectives are on the ask page. Type your question, and PRSHN will suggest whether a card perspective fits it — or pick one yourself and draw.
