Jamakkol Prasanam: the Tamil way of answering a question

4 November 2026 · 4 min read

Jamakkol Prasanam is a question-reading tradition from Tamil Nadu. Like Vedic Prashna, it does not need your birth time. It reads the sky at the exact moment you ask, from the place where you are, and treats that moment as a snapshot of your question.

Why the moment matters

In this tradition, a sincere question is never asked at a random time. The day is divided into watches (jamams), and the moment your question arrives shows how the matter is likely to unfold. That is why PRSHN casts the chart the instant you tap Reveal, using your current location.

Questions Jamakkol answers well

  • Will something happen, and roughly when — "Will I get the job I interviewed for last week?"
  • Lost things and missing people — "Will I find my lost documents?"
  • Short-term outcomes — "Will the court hearing go in my favour?", "Will the sale close this month?"
  • A quick yes or no when you feel stuck between two choices.

What you see in PRSHN

Your Jamakkol reading shows the traditional chart for your question at the top, for anyone who wants to look at it. Below it, the answer itself is written in plain English: what is likely, what may slow things down and what you can do now. You don't need to understand the chart to use the answer.

Tips for a clear reading

  • Ask one question, about one matter, when it is genuinely on your mind.
  • Don't ask the same question again straight away hoping for a different answer — wait until something changes.
  • Allow location access so the chart is cast for where you really are.
